School Outreach

Our Animal therapy sessions, often known as Animal-Assisted therapy AAT, offer a holistic approach to supporting children's emotional, social, and academic development, making them a valuable resource for promoting overall well-being in students. These in school sessions, allow us to support those who may be unable to access our facility either in a group or one to one session.

We have outlined some of the benefits below:

Emotional Support

  • Physical Development: Animals, such as dogs or cats, provide unconditional love and support, which can help children feel accepted and valued. This can be particularly beneficial for children who may struggle with self-esteem or feelings of isolation.

Stress Reduction

  • Interacting with animals has been shown to reduce levels of stress and anxiety. Spending time with animals can lower cortisol levels and promote feelings of calmness and relaxation, which can be especially helpful for children dealing with academic pressure or personal challenges.

Improvement in Social Skills

  • AAT can facilitate social interactions and communication skills. Children may feel more comfortable interacting with animals, which can translate into improved social interactions with peers and adults. This can be particularly beneficial for children with autism spectrum disorder or social anxiety.

Enhancement of Empathy and Compassion

  • Caring for animals can help children develop empathy and compassion. Through interacting with animals, children learn to understand and respond to the needs of others, which can positively impact their relationships with both humans and animals.

Boost in Confidence

  • Physical Activity: Successfully interacting with animals and accomplishing tasks related to their care can boost children's confidence and sense of achievement. This can help children develop a positive self-image and belief in their abilities.

Encouragement of Responsibility

  • Taking care of animals requires responsibility, such as feeding, grooming, and exercising them. Participating in AAT sessions can teach children valuable life skills and foster a sense of responsibility and accountability.

Motivation for Learning

  • Incorporating animals into educational activities can make learning more engaging and enjoyable for children. AAT sessions can be integrated into various subjects, such as science, language arts, and social studies, providing hands-on learning opportunities that enhance academic performance.approach to learning

Reduction in Behavioral Issues

  • AAT has been shown to reduce behavioral problems in children, such as aggression and hyperactivity. Interacting with animals can help children learn to regulate their emotions and behavior in a positive and constructive manner.
